Pune: Police Save Woman Attempting Suicide from Cliff Near New Katraj Tunnel

Ambegaon : The police saved the life of a woman who was attempting to end her life near the new Katraj Tunnel along the Mumbai-Pune-Satara Highway. This incident unfolded on Friday, March 20, 2026, around 4:15 pm. According to reports, police officers successfully counseled and safely brought down a woman who was standing on a mountain cliff approximately 200 to 250 feet high.

According to Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zhine of the Ambegaon Police Station, the Control Room received information around 4:15 PM regarding a woman attempting suicide near the petrol pump. Upon receiving this information, a police team immediately rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they observed the woman standing on the mountain cliff, poised to jump. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the police immediately summoned the Fire Department and an ambulance.

Police tried to engage the woman in conversation. Initially, she was not in a frame of mind to listen to anyone. However, after lots of efforts, the police managed to persuade her. Ultimately, they succeeded in bringing her down to safety. During the preliminary inquiry, the woman revealed that she had come to this spot to take this extreme step due to family-related issues.
