Pune Shocker: Uber Driver Killed, Body Dumped in Ghat; Police Arrest Accused
Otur police have arrested the accused in the case of murdering an Uber driver and throwing his body into a ghat in just a few days. The accused has been named as Adarsh Chandrakant Bhalerao. Nasir Ahmed Salamatullah Ansari an Uber driver, had left Titwala for Junnar on March 5 with a passenger.
After the car was stopped at Ganeshkhind Ghat in Sitewadi via Malshej Ghat, an argument broke out between the accused and the driver. At this time, the accused snatched the knife from the driver's hand and stabbed him on the neck, killing him. After that, the accused threw the body down from the cement embankment in the ghat and fled towards Titwala in the car.
On March 8, a case was registered under Section 103 (1) of the Indian Penal Code 2023 on the complaint filed by the deceased's brother Mohammad Amir Salamatullah Ansari. The police were able to trace the accused through information from the Uber company and GPS investigation.
Under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill and the direction of Additional Superintendent of Police Ramesh Chopde and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dhananjay Patil, a team including Assistant Police Inspector Otur L.G. Thate, PSI Sandeep Amne, and Police Constables Narendra Gorane, Namdev Bamble, Balshiram Bhawari, Devidao Khedkar, Bharat Suryavanshi, and Rohit Bombale, carried out this action. The accused has been remanded in police custody until March 12 by the court.
