Pune Shooting: Youth and Bystander Injured in Open Firing at Salon, One Arrested

A firing incident occurred on Friday April 24 night in Pune's Warje Malwadi area. A gang including an absconding accused involved in a drug-related case stormed into a salon and opened indiscriminate fire on a young man. In this incident, both the targeted youth and an innocent bystander sustained gunshot wounds and were injured.

According to reports, the incident unfolded around 8:00 PM while a young man named Nihal Shinde was seated inside a salon in Warje Malwadi. A group of 5 to 6 individuals, came on two-wheelers, entered the premises. Driven by a prior enmity, they barged directly into the salon and began shooting at Nihal. This sudden and indiscriminate gunfire created an atmosphere of panic and fear throughout the locality.

One of the victim identified as Amol Adhav, an innocent bystander, was also injured in the crossfire. He was struck by a bullet while he was merely at the salon to get a haircut. Both injured individuals were immediately rushed to a hospital, and reports indicate that their condition is currently stable. Warje Malwadi police officers on patrol responded immediately to the shooting. They apprehended one suspect at the scene, while others fled. 

Preliminary investigations indicate the shooting stemmed from an old dispute. Police face a challenge as one of the fleeing suspects is an absconding accused in a recent drug case from the Uttamnagar Police Station jurisdiction, raising concerns about law and order. Police have seized CCTV footage and formed special teams to track down the remaining suspects. The incident caused temporary tension in the area. A case is being registered at the Warje Malwadi Police Station, and further investigations are underway.
