A fire broke out in an old civic office building in Maharashtra's Thane district, gutting records, furniture and fixtures. No person was injured in the incident, which was reported at 6.53 pm on Wednesday, April 22, at the ward committee office located at Sahyog Apartment in Mumbra, Thane's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi told the news agency PTI.
Fire personnel rushed to the spot and the blaze was doused by around 9 pm. "The fire has destroyed all records in the civic office, along with furniture and fixtures," the official said.
Authorities would verify whether the old Mumbra ward office building was among the structures listed as dangerous and required action, he said. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
