It observed that extensive hearing had already been done regarding the issue covering all the aspects.The Tamil Nadu Health Department has accorded a special status to the Christian Medical College in the MBBS admission process. The prospectus of the college had said 100 MBBS seats in the college come under special category, and the allotment would be according to the rules and regulation of the CMC.A single window counselling mechanism has been made for all other self-financing colleges affiliated to the state medical university. Under this mechanism, the colleges surrender about 35-50 per cent of the seats for admission under government quota and the remaining seats come under the purview of management quota. The state follows NEET-based rank list and applies 69 per cent reservation.The CMC was exempted from the process last year.A petition was filed in the apex court seeking separate entrance test for taking admission in medical colleges other than NEET.Reportedly in 2017, the century-old college took part in the single-window counselling and only admitted one student for MBBS course. In 2018, during counselling, all 100 seats were declared as management quota seats.According to reports last year, parents of several students in the 1200 ranking were disappointed, as for the second year in a row, as they could not get admission in CMC, which charges low fees compared to most self-financing colleges.( With inputs from IANS )
