A disturbing case of impersonation fraud has surfaced in Bhandup, drawing attention to the increasing number of such scams in residential areas. Locals apprehended a man who allegedly pretended to be an employee of Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) and attempted to cheat a family. The suspect was caught after he tried to deceive residents by gaining their trust under false pretences. A video of the confrontation has circulated widely on social media, showing the tense exchange between the accused and the household members he allegedly targeted in an attempt to extract money.The incident was uncovered when a resident identified the suspect as the same individual who had earlier visited his home and reportedly cheated his mother of a significant amount of money. According to the complainant, the man returned to the residence, likely intending to repeat the fraudulent act. However, this time, the family recognised him and confronted him immediately. His inconsistent responses raised suspicion, prompting locals to take action.
