Aurangabad, July 2:Some came alone, some with family, some in groups. But the joy of donating blood and the satisfaction of giving life to a needy patient was present on everyone's face. The occasion was the mega blood donation camp 'Lokmat Raktacha Naata.' Blood donors gave overwhelming response to the blood donation camp organized at Lokmat Bhavan on Friday. Various social organizations, associations, government officials and employees participated in the camp.The blood donation camp started at 10.30 am at Lokmat Bhavan. Planning and precautions were taken at the camp site to ensure that donors comply with preventive regulations. Enthusiasm for blood donation was seen among the donors from early morning as blood donors had turned out in large numbers at Lokmat Bhavan. Blood donors were donating blood by first registering with the blood bank. Everyone in the camp had reached out to help alleviate the blood shortage caused by the Covid-19 outbreak. Everyone was overwhelmed by knowing that their blood would give a new life to someone. Many participated in blood donation with their families. The flow of blood donors continued till the end of the camp.Youths at the forefrontA large participation of youth was seen in blood donation camp. In a way, youths were at the forefront of blood donation. Women and young girls were also in the forefront in donating blood.Enthusiasm in the age group of 40 to 60 yearsBlood donors between the ages of 40 and 60 came forward with great enthusiasm without any misunderstanding or fear of corona outbreak. Blood donors in this category expressed the feeling that they are always donating blood to save the lives of needy patients.Someone's first, someone's 115th timeFor someone it was the first time to donate blood in the camp, while someone was donating blood for the 115th time. New blood donors and regular blood donors also participated in the camp.Rare blood group donors participateRelatives of needy patients have to roam to get blood of rare blood group. On behalf of the divisional blood bank, Dr Dr. Anil Joshi, head of blood bank Dr Suresh Gawai, Blood transfusion officer Simmy Minj, Dr Prachi Modwan, Dr Deepmala Karande, Dr Pooja Lagaskar, Dr Tejaswini Jadhav, public relations officer Hanuman Rule, technician Pooja Jangid, Devkumar Tayde, Mazhar Sheikh, Baban Wagh, Avinash Dehade, Manoj Pandit, Hamas Sheikh, Pratiksha Gaikwad, Sneha Akkalwar worked hard for blood collection. On behalf of Lions blood bank, Dr Prakash Patni, Dr Ejaz Pathan, public relation officer Manoj Chavan, Anil Kumar Sharma, Nilesh Ingal, Suryakant Tambe, Ashwini Narwade, Zaker Mahammad, Sandeep Waghmare, Nagesh Hiwarale, Avinash Sonawane and Bharti Andhyal collected blood.Participating associationsAurangabad Zilla Vyapari Mahasangh, Automobile Tires and Dealers Association, CA Association, Aurangabad District Revenue Employees Association, Ambulance Help Riders Group, MSEDCL officers-employees, as well as Maharashtra state electricity technical workers union, Maharashtra ST Kamgar Sena, Teachers union, Police officers-employees, Tax practitioners association, Namokar SMS service and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) participated and donated blood in the camp.Deepak Gupta's 115th blood donationCentral GST superintendent Deepak Gupta became the only blood donor at the camp to donate blood for the 115th time. He is currently 49 years old. He started donating blood at the age of 19. He had a strong desire to donate blood at the Lokmat mega blood donation camp. He was presented the award by the central government in Nagpur on Thursday for his outstanding work in GST. Accepting the award, he arrived in the city today and donated blood for the 115th time in his life. Gupta said "There are two benefits to donating blood. In this, both self interest and selflessness are achieved. Self interest means that by donating blood, new blood is produced in your body within 24 hours. Every three months you find out your BP, sugar level, HB and weight. If you continue to donate blood, your body will stay healthy, but the point is that giving blood once will save the lives of three people. Donate blood so that you can feel the joy of giving life to someone else, he said.
