Aurangabad, Jan 17:

A total of 11 cases of reaction to Novel coronavirus vaccine in rural areas and one in city area were reported on Sunday.

According to the details, the vaccine administrating campaign was implemented in the district on Saturday. In the first phase, as per the Government's directives, doctors and health department employees were administered the doses of vaccine.

A total of 212 health employees at the sub-district hospital of Vaijapur and Sillod tehsils and Rural Hospital at Pachod and Ajanta villages were vaccinated. No one from Pachod and Ajanta complained of any reaction.

Two employees from Sillod complained of vomiting and were admitted in a hospital. They were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and District Civil Hospital (DCH) as they have a mild reaction. One more person from the area had its reaction.

The health staffers who had itching on hands were given medicine. Two others suffer from cold, fever on Saturday night and being treated. The condition stated to be stable. Also, four persons complained of vomiting on Sunday morning. They were admitted and to a hospital and given saline to them.

District Civil Surgeon Dr Sundar Kulkarni said that a total of 11 cases of mild reaction including eight from Vaijapur and three from Sillod were reported. “A total of four employees from were given saline while three from Sillod are under observation after giving them medicines,” he added.

Additional district health officer and vaccination officer Dr Vijay Wagh said that a person may have a reaction from vaccination.

“It’s a sort of positive reaction if somebody has a mild fever after vaccination. This shows that body is responding to the vaccine. The serious reaction is reportedly mostly half an hour after administering the vaccine,” he added.
