125 Gramsevaks on radar for not spending funds

Aurangabad, Dec 10: The panchayat section of Zilla Parishad has threatened of initiating disciplinary action against the gramsevaks of 125-gram panchayats (GPs), if they fail to utilise the sanctioned funds to them by March 31, 2021. The block development officers (BDOs) would be taking further action. Notably, out of the total funds, received by the district under 14th finance commission, a total of Rs 47.78 crore was lying unspent in the above gram panchayats.

Earlier, the office-bearers and the members at a ZP general body and a standing committing meetings had expressed their displeasure over not utilising of the fund. In reply to a query raised in the standing committee meeting on Wednesday, the deputy chief executive officer Dr Sunil Bhokre explained that the BDOs have been instructed to fix the responsibility upon personnel for not utilising the sanctioned fund in due period and initiate actions accordingly. The funds were not used by 30 per cent GPs. Hence the BDOs in writing have alerted 125 gramsevaks of these GP, he said.

The members Ramesh Gaikwad, Madhukar Walture and Kishore Pawar, drew attention towards halting of the development works due to petty reasons. The chairman of building and construction committee Kishore Balande ordered the panchayat section to devise plans to utilise the funds within the deadline.
