14-year-old schoolgirl ends life in Ghatnandra
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
A shocking incident occurred in Ghatnandra, Sillod tehsil, where a 14-year-old girl, an eighth-grade student at the local zilla parishad (ZP) high school, died by suicide. The teenager reportedly hanged herself at her residence around 12 pm on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Apurva Ramesh Chandanshive.
Details of the incident
According to reports, Apurva had not gone to school on Wednesday. While her parents had left for work as usual, her grandfather, Kaduba Chandanshive, was asleep in the front room. The incident came to light when her grandmother, an Anganwadi assistant, returned home from work.
Upon entering the kitchen, the grandmother discovered Apurva’s body hanging. Her cries for help alerted the neighbours, who rushed to the spot and lowered the girl. She was immediately taken to the Sillod sub-district hospital, where doctors tragically declared her dead on arrival.
Police investigation
Acting upon the news, the Sillod Rural Police arrived at the hospital to conduct a primary inquest (panchnama). Following a post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the relatives.
The police have registered a case of accidental death. While the exact motive behind the suicide remains unknown, the police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
A bright student gone too soon
Apurva was known for being exceptionally bright in her studies. Her teachers at the school noted that she consistently ranked among the top five merit students in her class. The sudden loss of such a promising young girl has left the school and the entire village in a state of profound grief.
