5 Group Leaders, 6 Committee Chairmen & Dy Chairmen Seek Offices

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Group leaders of various political parties in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC), along with chairpersons and deputy chairpersons of subject committees, have demanded separate offices. However, no space remains within the headquarters to accommodate them, leaving the administration in a difficult predicament.

The five registered political parties, BJP, AIMIM, Shinde Sena, Uddhav Sena, and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, have each appointed a group leader, all of whom are demanding dedicated office space. Notably, even parties yet to officially appoint their office-bearers have made similar demands, treating it as a matter of prestige.

To address the shortage, the 'Divyang' (Differently-abled) Cell and two Health Department sections have been relocated from the headquarters, freeing up space for three committee chairpersons. The Mayor has initiated efforts to identify additional space for the remaining offices.

Additional Financial Burden for Separate Offices

Mayor Samir Rajurkar has intervened to allocate office space to certain political parties, with a search for suitable space currently underway. Beyond space, however, the requirements for furniture, air conditioning, and dedicated staff will impose a significant financial burden on the Municipal Corporation. This is a serious concern at a time when the city already faces an acute shortage of funds for water supply schemes and development projects.
