Aurangabad, April 21:

“The district needs 61 tonnes of oxygen daily. It was supplied 50 tonnes of liquid oxygen on Wednesday from Pune while over 15 tonnes of oxygen is being generated from local plants. So, the supply of oxygen is normal here,” said Sunil Chavan, district collector.

He was speaking to this newspaper after inspecting the oxygen tank in Government Medical College and Hospital today.

Sunil Chavan said that oxygen is supplied to the city from Pune and employees were deployed to maintain its supply.

“A total of four suppliers are providing oxygen to the district. Two of them are from Waluj and the remaining from Geverai Tanda, Shendra. Oxygen is filled in cylinder through an air compressor and supplied to hospitals,” he said.

The liquid oxygen is supplied for hospital tanks from Chakan-Pune, Raigad and Thane”. Some hospitals had a little oxygen stock because of disruption in the supply.

Joint-commissioner of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) Sanjay Kale said that there is a need to worry as 20 tonnes of oxygen is generated through air compressor in the district.

The FDA received complaints from hospitals about the delay in the supply of oxygen.

He said that efforts are being made to provide oxygen in each hospital.
