Abdul Sameer takes over as leader of opposition in CSMC

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The newly elected corporator from Prabhag 5, Abdul Sameer Abdul Sajid, has been appointed as the leader of the opposition (LoP) in the municipal corporation. At 2.30 pm, on Monday, mayor Sameer Rajurkar, handed over the official letter of appointment to him. A large number of corporators from the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) were present on the occasion.

The mayor urged the newly appointed LoP to contribute to the city’s development and to extend cooperation in ensuring the smooth functioning of the House.

Last week, AIMIM state president Imtiaz Jaleel had announced Abdul Sameer’s name for the post during a party meeting. Subsequently, on February 20, 32 AIMIM corporators submitted a letter bearing their signatures to the mayor. Following this, the mayor formally appointed the LoP.
