Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Marking Maharashtra Day, Hiranya Foundation organised a special cultural event titled ‘Abhijaat Maharashtra’ along the scenic banks of the historic Kamal Talao, near the newly revived Aamkhas Maidan. The unique blend of artistic heritage and natural beauty left the audience mesmerised.
The programme began with a performance by young tabla artist Chanakya Dandge from the city. His swift and skilful strokes created a magical rhythm that captivated the audience, setting an energetic tone for the evening.
Fusion of folk and modern art
The Mumbai-based group Theatre Anatomy then presented ‘Myths of Mandigos’, an engaging storytelling act. Performers Shantanu, Sayali and their team beautifully blended Konkan’s Chitrakathi, Rajasthan’s Kavad Katha, and elements of modern literature. The use of visuals, music, and poetic expressions made the presentation both insightful and entertaining, earning a standing ovation from the audience.
Tradition and taste
The event was not limited to artistic performances. Attendees also relished traditional Maharashtrian delicacies like kairi panha and vatli dal, experiencing the authentic flavours of the region. The cool breeze from the lake and the traditional refreshments further enhanced the charm of the evening.
