Aurangabad, Feb 11:

The accused ran away after jumping from the police van while taking him to court from the Mukundwadi police station was arrested by the railway police at Manmad railway station. The police traced him as he called his mother on the phone and informed her that he was at Manmad Railway Station, and then the railway police arrested him within few minutes. A team of Mukundwadi police has gone to Manmad to bring him back.

Mukundwadi police arrested accused Amar Gaikwad on February 9. Later, constable Dada Katkar and others were making preparations to produce him before the court of law on Wednesday at around 12.30 pm. He complained that the handcuffs were tight, and hence the constables were busy changing his handcuffs. Meanwhile, he jerked them and jumped out of the police van, and ran away. The police launched a massive manhunt for him but could not find him. He then called his mother from a passenger's phone and told her that he was at Manmad Railway Station. Crime Branch PI, Avinash Aghav, then sent the accused Amar's photo on Whatsapp to the Manmad Railway Police officers and was arrested within few minutes. A team of Mukundwadi police has left for Manmad to bring him, the sources said.
