Aurangabad, Jan 9:

The state''s tourism and environment minister Aditya Thackeray and the guardian minister Subhash Desai will inaugurate and dedicate the garbage processing plants set up by Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) at Chikalthana, Kanchanwadi and Padegaon, on January 16, said the municipal commissioner A K Pandey.

Earlier, the state government had sanctioned Rs 148 crore to AMC to get rid of the garbage menace permanently. Hence, the civic body proposed the establishment of four plants in different directions of the city. Meanwhile, the plant at Chikalthana is functioning for the past one and a half year, the plant at Padegaon is also functioning successfully, and the biogas plant at Kanchanwadi has also begun. Each plant can process 50 metric tones of garbage daily. The work of Harsul plant is under progress.

Pandey underlined that the ministers would also be inaugurating few other development works on occasion.
