Aurangabad, Nov 6:

The district administration has been keeping an eye on the firecracker market to be set up on the backdrop of Diwali. On October 29, 2016, a huge accident took place at the firecracker market in Aurangpura. Hence district collector Sunil Chavan has ordered to be vigilant so that such incidents do not happen again and Covid-19 infection does not increase.

The largest firecracker market in the city was held at the Zilla Parishad ground for the last twenty years. Around, 180-200 shops were set up in this market. However, a fire broke out causing major damage to shops and surrounding houses in October 2016. Although the loss of life was avoided, the financial loss was huge. After the incident, the firecracker market was shifted to Ayodhyanagari ground near railway station. This year, permission has been given by the municipal corporation and collector office to set up firecracker markets in Ayodhyanagri and other places. Construction of shops has also been started. However, the district collector has ordered to take strict precaution so that the incident at Aurangpura does not happen again. In this regard, Chavan has given instructions to the municipal commissioner through a written letter.

Prescribed precautions

All firecracker shops should be pre-inspected and information should be given to sub-divisional officers. Additional Tehsildar should also be informed about the report. Shops should be erected 50 feet away from each other. Firecrackers should not be placed in the exhibition area. No more than 50 shops must be erected in one market. Sand buckets, water drums and fire brigade vehicles must be parked in the market.

Rules for Covid-19 testing

Corona testing will be mandatory for vendors. Permission will be given if only the report is negative. Use of masks, sanitizers and thermal guns will be mandatory. Disinfection must be carried out continuously. No crowd must be assembled in the market premises.
