Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A senior AITUC leader, Anil Ambadas Jawale (69, Shivneri Colony on Jalgaon Road), tragically lost his life after being hit by an unidentified speeding car near Phulenagar on Harsul Road on Thursday at around 9 pm. He was on his way to Phulambri on a motorcycle with his son Abhijit Jawale (32) for work purposes, and he sustained grave injuries in the accident.

Over two decades ago, he had served as a labour leader at the now-defunct Devgiri Textile Mill and was a recipient of the State Government’s ‘Ideal Worker’s Award’. He was a respected figure in the labour movement and was a senior leader of the AITUC-affiliated Anganwadi-Balwadi Employees Union.

Details of the Incident

While en route to Phulambri, their motorcycle broke down near Phulenagar. As his son was pushing the vehicle to the side of the road, an unidentified car rammed into them from behind. Both were critically injured in the impact. Locals rushed them to the hospital, but Anil Jawale succumbed to a severe head injury. His son remains in critical condition.

Final rites and family

The funeral was held on Friday evening at the N-11 crematorium. Jawale is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter, and an extended family.

The Harsul Police have registered a case of accidental death, and search operations are underway to trace the vehicle, said the police official Rameshwar Thange.
