Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Every year, a large number of trees get uprooted, during the monsoon. Branches of some fragile trees fall due to strong winds, which potentially cause human injury or property damage. Hence to prevent such incidents, citizens are appealed to immediately report any dilapidated, dried, or infested trees in their homes or surroundings (if they come across them) to the garden section of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) in writing along with colour photographs.

Last month, more than 85 trees were uprooted in the city due to unseasonal rain and strong winds. In some places, trees fell on vehicles. The frequency of such incidents is higher during the monsoon. After a tree falls, the CSMC’s fire section has to work hard to cut it down and clear the traffic. Often, tree branches fall on electric wires, disrupting the power supply to the entire area. Hence the administrator has requested that citizens report any dangerous trees to the garden section for immediate action. If there is a necessity to cut down a dangerous tree, the Tree Authority Committee will grant permission. Meanwhile, the section has deployed its employees in each zone for this task and to avoid untoward incidents during monsoon.
