Aurangabad, April 2:
In a surprising development, the zone officers of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) are accused of delaying the process to take possession of 31 function halls, so as to start Covid Care Centres (CCCs) in them, in the last 15 days.
It may be noted that the hospitals are falling short of space. As a result, the AMC has decided to take possession and convert 31 function halls into CCCs under the first phase. The announcement was also made, but these officers claimed that they had not taken possession of these halls as they deprive of basic amenities. Meanwhile, eyebrows are being raised whether the civic administration is falling prey to anybody's pressure.
It may be noted that the city is witnessing the detection of 1000 to 1500 patients daily. Hence to make alternate arrangements so as to provide treatment to the patients during the emergency, the AMC surveyed the function halls in the city and shortlisted 60 halls. Accordingly, the zone officers were ordered to take possession of 31 halls under possession, but in past one fortnight, the officers failed to take possession of a single hall.
Earlier, there were some elements who were opposing to start CCCs in the function halls. Hence the AMC administration started delaying in taking the possession. It is being questioned that when there is a shortage of beds in CCCs, government and private hospitals then why AMC is not taking possession of the halls on a war-footing basis?
According to AMC health section sources, " The AMC had initiated the process of inviting a tender so as to provide required basic facilities in these function halls on par with the CCCs. Hence the possession of halls will be taken after completion of the tender process and then the CCCs will be started."
