AMC gears up to detect COVID patients at entry points

Aurangabad, March 18:

The municipal officer of health (MoH), Dr Neeta Padalkar, today has underlined that the six entry points or points of the entrance (PoE) will be under surveillance of health teams round the clock soon. " The teams will conduct health check-up of each traveller entering into the city limits. If any Covid-19 symptom is observed, then the team will conduct an antigen test on the spot. The immediate results will help the health teams to admit the patient to the nearest Covid Care Centre (CCC) and provide treatment as early as possible," she explained.

It is learnt that the central team, during its visit to the city last week, had ordered the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to resume testing at all entry points of the city.

" The health team will stop each vehicle seeking entry from their point and will check the passengers or occupants. On suspect, the team will conduct the antigen test, and if the report is negative, they will be given entry into the city, while the persons found infected will be shifted to the CCC. Presently, the AMC had started 12 CCCs and is striving to start a few more soon," said Dr Padalkar.

At each PoE, one team will be on duty for eight hours (one shift). The PoEs include Cambridge School Chowk (Chikalthana), Toll Naka (Sawangi), Daulatabad T-Point, Golwadi Naka, Nakshatrawadi and Jhalta Phata. Last year, the health teams had detected thousands of Covid-19 positive patients while checking at the PoEs.

19 Red Zones in city

The MoH also pointed out that the AMC has demarcated 19 wards as Red Zones as a large number of Coronavirus infected patients are reported from here. The AMC has formed squads to conduct maximum texting in these zones. The squads will also extend help in the successful implementation of vaccination drive, said Dr Padalkar.
