AMC hoping to get nod from UDD to new staffing pattern, soon
Aurangabad, Nov 14:
The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has been instructed to submit the presentation on a new staffing pattern before the minister of Urban Development, said the sources. The AMC officers were making rounds of the Urban Development Department (UDD, Mumbai) for getting approval to the new staffing pattern so that they could undertake recruitment officers and other category staff in the different sections. Meanwhile, the recruitment drive may take in the next year if all goes well till the next month.
There are hundreds of essential key posts lying vacant for the past many years. As a result, the existing officials are burdened by performing the additional responsibilities and would frequently voice against the workload. The staffing pattern was not approved, as a result, the AMC was unable to conduct recruitment. Six months ago, the civic body was told to resubmit with recommended corrections. UDD officers okayed it and forwarded for the chief minister''s signature.
Recently, the UDD held a meeting with the officers concerned. The deputy commissioner (AMC) Sumant More was also present in the meeting. According to sources, the UDD officials informed AMC to give a presentation on the staffing pattern before the minister of Urban Development (UD). Hence, the AMC will submit the presentation after Diwali and hope to get approval by December. If all goes well, the recruitment may take place in the new year, said the sources.
The general body (GB) had passed the new staffing pattern proposal on July 18, 2017. Before approval, the office-bearers had suggested 36 corrections to the civic officers. The corrected version was supposed to submit to the state government for approval. However, the then municipal commissioner Nipun Vinayak and the deputy commissioner Manjusha Mutha prepared a new staffing pattern proposal and tabled in GB for approval on July 18, 2019. The then corporators in the body and the Officers Association raised objections over it. Hence, the GB decided to send the old proposal to the state government for approval.
