AMC initiates to detect quacks in city

Aurangabad, Dec 24:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has lodged the first complaint against a bogus doctor practising at Savitrinagar in Chikalthana, yesterday. Under the guidance of a dedicated committee to detect bogus medical practitioners, the AMC has launched a drive to detect quacks practising illegally in the city.

It is observed that majority of these bogus doctors hails from various districts of West Bengal and Bihar. They establish their clinics in rural parts to treat the villagers and poor people. It is reported that a large number of quacks exist in Waluj vicinity. The unqualified doctors are practising illegally under the nose of the deputy director of health, the Zilla Parishad''s health department etc. They do not have a fear of any government machinery concerned. They deprive of necessary qualification, then also the nearby medicine shops give medicines to patients based on the prescription of these quacks.

These bogus doctors succeed in saving themselves as they get a tip from their source prior to the action. It is learnt that when the necessary health officials reach their place to take action. The quacks manage to flee away with their equipment and other hospital materials from the so-called clinics. To evade action, they just set up another clinic at a new different spot.

The AMC has lodged the complaint with Chikalthana police station against one quack on Tuesday, while the inquiry of 2-3 bogus doctors is underway. The civic administration would be filing more complaints after completing the ongoing inquiry, said the municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar.
