Aurangabad, June 15:
The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has sought financial aid of Rs 77.73 crore from the state government to undertake various adequate measures to tackle the possible third wave of the Covid-19, recently. The AMC has received the aid of Rs 47.48 crore to tackle the second wave. However, the strength of Coronavirus infected patients was huge compared to the first wave. However, the shortage of adequate facilities at each Covid Care Centre had pushed the AMC to face hardship.
According to the sources, " The civic health section had sent the proposal to the state government demanding a fund of Rs 77.73 crore to undertake required and adequate measures in the coming three months so as to tackle the third wave of the Covid-19. It includes Rs 25 crore for new CCCs or to maintain existing CCCs by paying rent of properties, their electricity bills, or upgrade facilities in them; Rs 8.92 crore to clear old pending bills; Rs 3 crore to procure pediatric ventilators; Rs 5 crore to perform free of cost last rites upon Covid patients through one NGO (as the other NGO does it free of cost) and to install machine to develop electric crematorium, etc."
It may be noted that the AMC had set up CCCs in government infrastructure as well as in private properties for the convenience of patients and in the operation of the centre. However, the landlords of these private properties were insisting AMC pay the rent against the usage of their properties. Each patient is admitted to the CCC for 10 days. In this period the AMC provides free of cost treatment, meals, breakfast, etc."
Rs 47 crore to AMC in the second wave
The sources added, " The AMC has received Rs 37.36 crore from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and Rs 10.12 crore through the District Planning Committee (DPC). Hence a total of Rs 47.48 crore was granted to AMC to tackle during the second wave of Covid-19, till to date."
