Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University has decided to invite applications once again for the recruitment of 73 professor posts, along with the posts of deans. At the same time, candidates who had already submitted their applications earlier will now have to fill and submit an ‘ATR’ in accordance with the new rules of the state government, informed registrar Dr Prashant Amrutkar.
A meeting of the management council of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University was held on Friday. The meeting was chaired by vice-chancellor Dr Vijay Fulari and attended by pro-vice-chancellor Dr Walmik Sarvade, registrar Dr Prashant Amrutkar and 20 other members. A total of 20 proposals were presented during the meeting, while approval was granted to two additional subjects at the last moment. Fresh approval was also given to fill the posts of four deans and nine statutory officers.
As per the new policy of the state government, the university has decided to invite fresh applications for the 73 professor posts. Earlier, applications had been invited in September 2023 during the tenure of then vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole. However, the recruitment process was halted as supporters of the ruling party raised objections citing the limited tenure of the vice-chancellor. During the tenure of the present vice-chancellor Dr Vijay Fulari, applications were again invited in April 2025 and November 2025. However, the recruitment could not proceed due to changes in the state government’s policy.
Now, under the newly introduced 60-20-20 policy, the university has decided to restart the recruitment process. Candidates who had already submitted applications earlier will be allowed to make corrections in their forms without having to pay any additional fees.
Other important decisions
Proposals will be invited to fill the post of emeritus professor in various departments through university funds. In addition, one professor of practice and one adjunct faculty member will be appointed in each academic faculty at a monthly honorarium of Rs 40,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively. Approval has also been granted to rent out the auditorium of the department of theatre arts, allot land within the university campus for the construction of a government hostel for OBC students, and fill the post of a lady medical officer at the university health centre through university funds.
