There is good news for the aspirants of the post-HSC Diploma course in Pharmacy as they are eligible to get the benefit of the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS) from the current academic year.

It may be noted that students of the economically weaker section can take benefit of TFW for engineering and technology courses while the pharmacy course was excluded from it until last year. Under the Scheme, up to 5 percent of sanctioned intake per course is available for the admissions.

The waiver is limited to the tuition fee as approved by the State Level Fee Committee for the institutions. All other fee except tuition fees will have to be paid by the beneficiary. These seats are filled through the centralised admission process conducted by the Competent Authority.

Only Maharashtra State candidature candidates whose parents’ annual income from all sources is less than Rs 8 lakh are eligible for these seats. Beneficiaries of the scheme cannot change an institution or course under any circumstances.

The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) permitted the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) a few days ago to implement the scheme to the diploma in pharmacy course students from the academic year 2020-21.
