Aurangabad Nov 11:

Vice-chancellor of MGM Pvt University Dr Sudhir Gavhane said that first Prime Minister of the country Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and first Education Minister Maulana Azad laid the foundation of modern higher education.

He was speaking on ‘Contribution of Maulana Azad in Nation Building’ an online lecture organised by Students Development Department of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University on Wednesday to celebrate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

VC Dr Sudhir Gavhane stressed the need to continue the legacy of staunch patriot and progressive thinker Maulana Azad.

He asserted that various national level institutes and organisations like the University Grants Commission, Indian Institutes of Technology were established in the post-Independence era and Maulana Azad had the lion’s share in their establishment.

Dr Mustajeeb Khan made an introductory speech. Sanjay Shinde conducted the proceedings while Dr Sunil Rajput proposed a vote of thanks.
