Bills for Corona restriction measures worth Rs 20 crores outstanding

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has spent around Rs 37 crores in the past 9 months for implementing measures to restrict the spread of Corona in the city. The administration has received Rs 17.50 crores funds from the government so far but still the bills of the suppliers and the contractors to the tune of Rs 20 cores are pending. They are visiting the AMC headquarters frequently to get their outstanding amounts.

AMC received Rs 17.50 crores from the contingency funds of the District annual scheme, but actually the expenditures for the measures were Rs 37 crores. The officers have done the works from the suppliers and the contractors during the Corona crisis. The administration submitted the proposal for funds around four moinths back. Some people representatives had opposed to give the funds to AMC from the District funds. Then, the guardian minister, Subhash Desai had clarified that the funds will be distributed without any discrimination. Still, the funds have not been received.

The suppliers provided food to the employees and patients, but later, the food for the employees were stopped due to the paucity of funds.

The bills for kits – Rs 7 crores, patients’ food - Rs 3 crores, contractual employees salaries – Rs 3 cores, other expenditures – Rs 1 cores are still outstanding, the sources said.
