Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
An accident was reported at Kannad Ghat on the Chalisgaon–Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar stretch after a car travelling towards Mumbai plunged nearly 40 feet into a valley on Sunday.
According to preliminary information, the passengers had left Bhadgaon in Jalgaon district and were heading to Mumbai when the driver lost control at a sharp turn in the ghat section. The car rammed into the safety railing and fell into the gorge, but got stuck in trees and bushes, preventing a deeper fall and averting a major tragedy. Locals, passing motorists and police rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The four occupants two women and two men were pulled out with the help of ropes. All sustained injuries but none are critical. They were admitted to a nearby government hospital and are reported to be stable.

Accident-prone stretch
Kannad Ghat is known for its narrow roads, steep inclines, and sharp curves, which often pose risks to motorists. Police officials have repeatedly urged drivers to exercise caution while navigating the stretch, as instances of overspeeding and misjudgment frequently lead to accidents in the area. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
