The rhythmic beats of dhol-tasha and the soulful Banjara song “Sari Tandem Tarire Maya, Sari Goroor Tu Sevabhaya” set the tone for a grand celebration as thousands gathered to mark Sant Sevalal Maharaj’s birth anniversary on Saturday. The city came alive with a vibrant procession, showcasing the unwavering devotion of the Banjara community.
The celebrations began early in the morning at Sant Sevalal Maharaj Chowk near the High Court, where devotees paid floral tributes. At Vasantrao Naik Chowk, Cidco, Minister Atul Save garlanded a portrait of the saint, joined by former deputy mayor Pramod Rathod, BJP city President Shirish Boralakar, and National Banjara Kranti Sena president Gorakhnath Rathod. Processions from across the city converged at Vasantrao Naik Chowk, creating a spectacular sight. Three-year-old Ishan Chavan, dressed as Sant Sevalal Maharaj, was the centre of attention. The rally culminated at Sevalal Maharaj Temple, Naiknagar, where prayers were offered. A dhol-tasha competition featuring six drum troupes at Vasantrao Naik Chowk heightened the festive spirit, as powerful drumbeats resonated across the streets, amplifying the spiritual energy of the event.
