Aurangabad, March 13:

The turnover of Rs 125 crore of the city was affected on Saturday, the first day of the implementation of a two-day complete lockdown being implemented to contain the spread of Novel coronavirus.

Shops were closed in most city areas.

Adat market of fruits and vegetables at Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Jadhavwadi will remain closed up to March 17. All the shops in Old Mondha and Jadhavwadi were closed today paralysing turnover of Rs 10 crore to Rs 20 crore.

Lockdown was implemented strictly in different parts of the city, including Gulmandi, Tilak Path, Paithan Gate, Aurangpura, Nirala Bazaar, Kumbharwada, Machhlikhadak, City Chowk, Saraf Bazaar, Shahganj. The situation was the same at Jawahar Colony, Sutgirni Parisar, Pundliknagar, Shivajinagar, Cidco Cannought Place, Hudco.

Shops of druggists and chemists were closed at some places while closed at other areas. Praful Malani, the Marathwada Chamber of Trade and Commerce president, said that around Rs 125 crore turnover was affected throughout the day today.

He said that there are big and small commercial establishments on both sides of Beed bypass. “All shops were closed on Saturday. Except for trucks and tempos, no other vehicles were seen on the roads,” he added.
