Aurangabad, Feb 18:

Administrator of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Astik Kumar Pandey announced that the classes for students from 5th to 9th and 11th standard would be held online between February 22 to 28 with the rise of the number of Novel coronavirus patients.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Astik Kumar Pandey said that students of 10th and 12th standard can attend the classes as usual because of their Board examinations.

He said that the schools were instructed to follow the restrictions of exempting students from attending the classes.

“Instructions were issued to function halls, malls, markets, five-star hotels, vegetable market, trading hub not allow crowding. Also, separate teams of AMC and police departments would be deployed to keep watch on crowding,” he said. The students' classes from fifth to 12th standards were resumed when the number of patients had gone down.

“We have decided to suspend all the schools' classes, except for 10th and 12th standards, to reduce the spread of the pandemic virus. Students will attend online classes like it was earlier,” he asserted.

Prohibitory orders were brought into force. Commissioner of police Nikhil Gupta said that the organisers should ensure that the prohibitory orders are not violated while celebrating Shivjayanti Utsav.

“All should wear mask. A case would be lodged if a procession is taken out,” he warned. He said that all should follow precautionary measures seriously to avoid lockdown situation like it was last time.

Superintendent of police Mokshada Patil urged people to wear mask.

Marriage of district collector Sunil Chavan will be held at a hotel on February 26. A reception function which was to be held for the wedding was cancelled to reduce the threat of COVID.

He urged invitees to wish his daughter from home.
