Aurangabad, May 9:

Members of Coaching Classes Association sought permission to commit self-immolation if they are not given permission to run the classes with all COCVID measures.

There are 20,000 to 25,000 coaching classes across the State. Around 20 lakh to 25 lakh families depend on them.

As the tuition classes were shut down completely for the past 13 months because of COVID 19, their owners, teaching and non-teaching staff members were struggling for survival.

The association members staged dharnas, demonstrated and submitted a memorandum to tehsildar, district collector, division commissioner and chief minister’s office seeking permission to reopen the classes.

However, no notice of their agitation was taken by the State Government.

The association sought permission to commit self-immolation of they are not allowed to re-start classes with all COVID measures from May 17.

Their other demands included waving building rent, GST, Income Tax, electricity bill, providing financial assistance to the staff, exemption from paying loan installments until the situation returns to the normacly.

State president of the Association P M Wagh, general secretary Dnyaneshwar Dakhne, vice-president Sandeep Mhaske, treasurer Appasaheb Mhaske, coordinator Ajabrao Manwar and others requested the Government to consider the demands sympathetically and give permission for committing self-immolation en masse.
