Coconut trees planted under 'Earn & Learn' scheme
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Coconut trees were planted in the coconut orchard of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, under the 'Earn and Learn scheme, on Wednesday.
Registrar Dr Prashant Amrutkar, well-known poet Indrajit Bhalerao, Director of Student Development Board Dr Kailash Ambhure planted the trees to mark the inauguration of the drive.
The Students Development Development of Bamu runs the ‘Earn and Learn’ scheme to help students economically weaker section continue their education. The scheme was named after the late Vasantrao Kale. Under this scheme, students manufacture items like files, envelopes, pads and sanitary napkins.
They make contributions in areas such as cleanliness of the premises, library, office, laboratory, and clean drinking water as well. These students also do skilled work in agriculture. This year, coconut trees of the 'Malaysian Dwarf' variety were planted. The coconut trees bear fruit in the fourth year. Garden head Kishore Nirmal, Gajanan Palkar, Dr Dinkar Suradkar and others were present.
