''Collective Pledge'' to sensitise ''irresponsible''

To draw the attention of citizens towards growing numbers of Covid-19 patients in the city and sensitise them about their vital role in preventing the spread of infected disease, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) conducted a ''Collective Pledge'' at its head office today at 11 am.

The additional municipal commissioner-I, B B Nemane read out the pledge before the civic officials and personnel on the sprawling campus. The additional commissioner-II, R P Nikam, medical officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar, executive engineer (electrical branch) A B Deshmukh, head of Solid Waste Management (SWM) Nandkishore Bhombe, medical officers Dr Premlata Karad, Dr Megha Jogdand, municipal secretary D D Suryawanshi, public relations officer Tausif Ahmed and many others were present to take the pledge. The pledge taking programme was also conducted in all nine zonal offices, mechanical section and primary health centres of the AMC.

The health officials briefed that people''s participation is vital in controlling the spread of Covid-19. It is the need of the hour. The administration is trying its best to handle the situation, but there are few handful citizens, who are risking lives of others by not following the guidelines - to wear masks, to maintain social distance and to use sanitiser. The programme is a part of the chief minister''s concept ''Majhe Kutumb Majhi Jababdari'' (My Family My Responsibility). Through the pledge, we all intended to remind people about their role in the present situation.
