The number of corona patients in Aurangabad district has come down sharply in the last few days. But the number of rising deaths due to Covid-19 os a serious concern. The number of deaths has risen significantly since May 13. As a result, the total death toll has reached the threshold of one thousand.

In the last few days, 300 to 400 new patients were being diagnosed in the district every day. But from September 25, the number of patients started declining. The number of patients recovering is higher than the number of new patients. So it is a relief to the administration. However, the daily deaths continue to climb. The first victim succumbed to corona on April 5 in the city. Since then, the number of victims in the district rose to 975 by Tuesday afternoon. A total of 17 people had died due to corona in the district till May 12. Ever since patients have been dying daily in the district. Doctors said that most patients who die from corona have been diagnosed with other illnesses. Diseases like diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure make the condition of the patients more serious. Therefore, failure to respond to treatment leads to death of the patient.

A meeting was held on Tuesday in the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) regarding the death audit. Concerns were raised about the death toll. Measures being taken to reduce the death toll were reviewed at this time. The death rate in the district on May 13 was 2.52 per cent. It rose to 2.82 per cent on Tuesday.
