Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
To prevent the defacement of the city, the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) had identified 88 locations within the city for erecting temporary hoardings. An affidavit to this effect was submitted by the civic body before the Bombay High Court bench at Aurangabad.
According to the affidavit, permission would be granted to erect temporary hoardings only at the specified 88 locations and strictly for a period of three to five days. The hoardings were required to clearly mention the dates for which permission had been granted.
Following directions issued by the Bombay High Court in public interest litigation (PIL) No. 155/2011 regarding hoardings, the Aurangabad bench registered Suo Motu PIL No. 65/2011. Meanwhile, the Urban Development Department (UDD) at Mantralaya had directed all municipal corporations in the state to identify designated spots for temporary hoardings.
Accordingly, the then Aurangabad Municipal Corporation had submitted a list of 220 locations in the city to the Commissioner of Police. Out of these, approval was granted for 88 locations for the installation of temporary hoardings. The list of these 88 approved locations was later forwarded to Mantralaya through a Google Sheet, sources from the municipal corporation said.
