Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Orders have been issued to maintain a reserve of 5,000 litres of petrol and 5,000 litres of diesel at the municipal corporation’s Central Octroi Checkpost petrol pump. Accordingly, this stock will be used in emergencies for fire brigade vehicles, ambulances, and official vehicles of officers. Since Wednesday evening, the pump has been closed due to a lack of stock. Tankers carrying petrol and diesel are expected to arrive on Thursday night, after which the pump will resume operations as per its regular schedule, according to sources.

More than 15 vehicles of the fire brigade run on diesel, and they are supplied fuel from the municipal pump. If petrol and diesel supplies are not available in the future, these vehicles cannot be kept operational. These vehicles are part of essential services. Similarly, the municipal corporation has four ambulances, which are subject to the same arrangement. Officials may also need to step out during emergencies. Therefore, the municipal administration has instructed the pump manager to reserve 5,000 litres of petrol and 5,000 litres of diesel. At present, fuel is being provided only to vehicles used in emergency situations. Once additional stock arrives late at night, the pump will be opened to the general public.

Garbage collection vehicles require 3,000 litres of diesel daily

The garbage collection vehicles, including smaller collection vans and larger trucks operated by the Reddy company, require around 3,000 litres of diesel daily. At present, the company is procuring diesel from two private petrol pumps on Jalna Road. The pump operators have, for now, assured that they will reserve diesel for them. However, if diesel is not available, the garbage vehicles cannot remain operational. The company is planning to request the municipal corporation to reserve diesel for garbage collection vehicles as well.
