Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Impressed by the hospitality of the city, a delegation of nine tourists from Radlett (England, in United Kingdom), today paid a courtesy visit to the municipal corporation to meet the first citizen (mayor) of the historic city. They were delighted and assured the mayor Sameer Rajurkar of enacting as ambassadors of the city in their country.

The foreign tourists applauded the mayor saying, “It is extremely rare for a single district to have two world heritage sites, and it is a great privilege that you are the Mayor of this city. You are very fortunate.”

The group admired the beauty of the Ajanta Caves, which seemed to mesmerise them completely, on Sunday. Curious about who the lucky mayor of a city with such remarkable heritage sites was, they were informed of the newly elected mayor’s name. Hence they expressed a desire to meet him. With the help of locals, the tourists visited the municipal corporation office on Monday morning.

During the meeting, Cathy and Ken Greenwood, Nigel, Alex, Chris, and Bernadine Paramore shared their experiences. Mayor Rajurkar presented them with the book ‘Ellora Ignis’. He requested them to visit the Devgiri fort at Daulatabad, and the Mayor also urged them to share their experiences about the city and its culture with people back in England.
