Aurangabad, June 14:

District collector Sunil Chavan instructed Samruddhi Mahamarg Pradhikaran (Authority) to inspect water-logging in farms and take immediate measures.

The rainwater flow has changed because of Samruddhi Mahamarg.

Waterlogging was reported at three villages-Bhambarda, Jaipur and Gevrai Kuber and causing crop losses.

Sunil Chavan was speaking in a meeting held at the district collector officer about losses and measures at villages due to waterlogging.

Tehsildar Jyoti Pawar, executive engineer of the Pradhikaran Suresh Abhang, project officer Shankara were present.

Water from hills enter farms of nearby villages, causing crops losses as there is no system of proper water draining.

Chavan directed the Authority to inspect farms and take immediate measures to reduce such type of losses.

Tehsildar Pawar said that panchamas were carried out after affected farms.

“Fruits, onions on 20 hectares of land belonging to 70 farmers at Bhambarda, Jaipur and Gevrai Kuber villages were damaged due to waterlogging,” he said.
