Just two hours later at 6.30 pm on February 22, constables Vinod Gajanan Kharat and Kawale, on Dial 112 duty at Cidco Police Station, responded to a call from one Tushar in Sudarshanagar's N-11 area. On arrival, they found accused auto-rickshaw driver Shubham Rajendra Ranyewale heavily drunk he had rammed his auto into Tushar's car and was abusing Tushar and his sister-in-law. Police detained Shubham and advised Tushar to file a complaint at the station. However, while being escorted, Shubham resumed abusing and suddenly grabbed Constable Kharat's collar and attacked him. His parents Rajendra and Maya Ranyewale (all residents of Navjivan Colony, N-11, Hudco) joined the scuffle, tearing Kharat's uniform lanyard, nameplate, and shirt buttons all captured on video by Constable Kawale.
