Aurangabad, May 15:

The Education Department is thinking about holding Common Entrance Test (CET) for 11th admissions for the academic year 2021-22.

It may be noted that the State Government cancelled 10th class examinations and decided to pass all students because of the spread of COVID 19 across the State.

There is a question in students and parents' minds what will be the criteria for the admissions in 11th class since talented and average students would be declared pass without the examinations.

The process of internal assessment for SSC result preparation is not also clear. The education department conducted a survey for the assessment and CET. A total of 17 per cent of schools expressed the inability to evaluate students, while 35 pc refused for holding the entrance test.

The survey report was submitted the Government. All students and parents are waiting for the Government decision on the basis of the report.

The admission process for Polytechnic and Industrial Training Institutes is done on the basis of marks obtained in 10th standard. Nothing is transparent about what would be considered for the admissions.

If the education department conducts online CET, how students from rural areas would take it with frequent disruption of electricity and Internet. There are 44,000 seats of 11th in the district while 31,470 in the city.

Headmasters from some schools think that no oral or written examinations were conducted in the SSC.

“How marks would be allotted to the students is not clear. The 10th considered a foundation for one’s career. Around 40 per cent of students do not have an online education facility. It would have been better had the Government thought about evaluation before cancelling the examinations. Those schools which had online facility participated in the survey what about others which do not the facility,” they added.
