Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
An elderly street vendor who sells poha and tea on a two-wheeler at night to support his family was seriously injured after being attacked with a cutter by another vendor, allegedly over selling food at lower rates. The incident occurred around 3 am on April 7 near API Corner. A case has been registered against the accused, Akshay Patil (Jay Bhavani Nagar), at Mukundwadi police station.
The victim, Komalsing Rajput (54, Mukundwadi), sells tea and poha in the Cidco area during the night for additional income. While he was selling poha at Cidco Chowk in the early hours of April 7, Akshay Patil, who also operates a poha stall in the area, confronted him and picked a quarrel. Allegedly angered over Rajput selling poha at cheaper rates and affecting his business, Patil attacked him with a cutter, inflicting injuries on his head, hands and face. Despite Rajput being severely injured and bleeding, the accused allegedly assaulted him further and threatened to kill him. Local residents rushed to the spot and rescued Rajput, who was later admitted to a hospital for treatment.
