A quarrel between two vegetable vendors over prices escalated into a violent clash at Ranjangaon Shenpunji, Waluj on Thursday evening.

Two men were injured in the fight, one of whom is in critical condition and undergoing treatment in the ICU. Both parties have lodged cross-complaints at the MIDC Waluj police station.

According to Narayan Suradkar from Ranjangaon Shepu, he and Faheem Shaikh from Ambedkarnagar, Jogeshwari, sell vegetables near the Balkrishna petrol pump. Suradkar claimed that while he was selling vegetables, Faheem verbally abused his wife and daughter. When he confronted Faheem, the latter allegedly threatened him and attacked him with a knife. Police arrested Faheem Shaikh, and API Naresh Thakre is investigating the matter. In his counter-complaint, Faheem alleged that the dispute began over potato prices. He claimed that Suradkar hurled abuses and struck his hand with a cement block. Constable Rausaheb Kakad is probing the counter-case.
