Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
Respect women in all aspects and prioritize crimes against them. Honour officers who excel in preventing such crimes by displaying their photos at the CP office," said National Commission for Women(NCW) Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar while addressing city police on Thursday.
At a meeting held at 3 pm in the Commissionerate, Rahatkar reviewed the status of crimes against women and young girls, ongoing investigations, and pending cases. She urged the police to conduct awareness programs in schools and colleges to address gender-based harassment and promote respectful behaviour. Police Commissioner Pravin Pawar briefed Rahatkar on initiatives being implemented to ensure women's safety. DCP's Nitin Bagate, Shilwant Nandedkar and Prashant Swami were present at the meeting.
Leverage social media for awareness
To curb crimes and address youth-related issues, Rahatkar suggested creating short video reels to spread awareness. She emphasized the need for police to handle women's complaints with sensitivity.
Research opportunity for police officers
The NCW regularly studies women's issues and prepares reports. Rahatkar informed the Police Commissioner that officers interested in research and analysis would be allowed to work with the commission.
