Aurangabad, March 9: Well-known Aurangabad District football official Liyaqat Hussain Quadri died of heart attack here yesterday. He was 69. He is survived by wife, a son and two daughters.

A former secretary of Aurangabad District Football Association, Liyaqat had also diligently served the Western India Football Association as its Vice-President.

Liyaqat, who was a good defender during his playing days, was actively involved with the sport in the city, as he would never miss a game at the Aam Khaas ground or at the University ground, no matter whichever division it was.

The Aurangabad District Football Association office-bearers have condoled the death of Liyaqat. “His contributions and commitment over the last many years to football will always be remembered,” they told Lokmat Times.
