Aurangabad, March 31:

District collector Sunil Chavan has given permission for boating facility at Mombatta Lake at Daulatabad. A fund of Rs 2 crore has also been given to the Zilla Parishad (ZP).

Three years ago, the ZP administration had given a fund of Rs 1.25 crore from the district planning committee. The ZP works department had spent Rs 62 lakh to provide other basic facilities such as toilets, refreshment canteens, rooms for security guards and ticket collection and a bridge to cross the lake. The remaining fund was returned as it was not spent on time. However, the ZP administration continued to pursue the funds. Again the project has been funded by Rs 2 crore. Therefore, the officials expressed that the boating facility will be available this year. The ZP has also focused on the Zakkas Plateau and has allocated Rs 51 lakh in the budget with an intention to conserve biodiversity and provide employment opportunities through tourism in rural areas.
