Aurangabad, May 31:

The Rural police local crime branch busted a gang active in stealing tractors and arrested six members on Sunday night. The police have seized two tractors from them.

The arrested have been identified as Shaikh Sameer Dada Shaikh Razaq (28, Vadod Bazar, Phulambri), Amol Bhausaheb Khmat 926, Umravati), Dnyaneshwar alias Dnyana Vishnu Dhande (24, Vadod Bazar), Gajanan Shankar Tupe 936, Narla, Phulambri), Sameer Nasir Pathan (36, Khandala, Vaijapur) and Kalim Baig Salim Baig (48, Deogaon Rangari, Kannad).

Police said, on May 14, a tractor of Rafiq Gafur Bagwan of Ladsavangi was stolen at night. A case was registered at the Karmad police station. On May 27 night, another tractor of Ehsham Naser Qazi amounting Rs 7 lakh was stolen. Under the guidance of PI Bhagwant Phunde, PSI Ganesh Raut, constable Sanjay Kale, Balu Pathrikar, Nadeem Shaikh, Valmik Nikam, Babasaheb Navale, Rameshwar Dhapse, Dnyaneshwar Mete, Yogesh Tarmale investigated and arrested notorious goon Shaikh Sameer. He confessed that he had stolen the tractors with the help of his accomplices. Later, all his accomplices were also arrested. The stolen tractors were kept with Shaikh Sameer Pathan and Kalim Baig and were searching for customers. The police have seized two tractors from them. Accused Sameer and Gajanan Tupe are hardcore criminals on police record. Sameer was released from jail one year back while Tupe six months back on bail.
