Garbage collection vehicle sirens resume in the city

Residents across several parts of the city have expressed relief as the sirens mounted on garbage collection vehicles have resumed operation. With the sound of the sirens now audible, citizens are promptly stepping out to hand over household waste to the collection vans.

Following the elections, garbage vehicles were reportedly operating without prior notice in many areas, leading to complaints of uncollected waste piling up. Residents had voiced concern that, in the absence of sirens, they were unaware of the vehicles’ arrival and departure. As a result, heaps of garbage had begun accumulating on several streets. Amid rising complaints, corporators have been visiting affected localities along with contractors and sanitation staff, clicking photographs and forwarding them to officials. This increased vigilance has led to the restoration of the sirens, bringing a measure of discipline back to the city’s waste collection system.
