Aurangabad, Dec 13:
The late external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj brought home Geeta who had mistakenly gone to Pakistan in childhood. Geeta, the hearing and speech- impaired woman who has been living in Indore (Madhya Pradesh) for five years, was accompanied by an NGO secretary and female staff to Aurangabad today to search for her parents.
Gita reached Pakistan when she was five to seven years old (1999-2000). It is said that she may have gone by Samjhauta Express, or she may have crossed the Indo-Pakistan border in Gujarat and entered Pakistan by mistake. On October 26, 2015, Geeta returned to India on the initiative of the then external affairs minister late Sushma Swaraj. Since then she has been with the Muk Badhir Seva Sangh in Indore. During this time she was taught sign language. However, her parents were not traced. The Indian government granted her Indian citizenship and appealed to her parents to come forward. Meanwhile, on July 20, she joined the Anand Service Society, an NGO. From then on, Geeta insisted on searching for her parents. With the permission of the MP government, Gyanendra Purohit came to Aurangabad today with Geeta. Purohit told Lokmat Times that Gita''s right nose was pierced. According to her, there is a railway station in her village that has diesel-powered trains. There is also a river and a temple near the railway station. Outside the temple is a large idol of the goddess. After taking a dip in the river, they go to the temple for darshan. Besides, sugarcane, paddy and groundnut are cultivated in her village, she said in sign language. Most of the railway lines in India have been electrified. Trains run on diesel between Manmad and Secunderabad in Marathwada. Besides, paddy, groundnut and sugarcane are cultivated in the border areas of Andhra Pradesh and Marathwada. Based on this, we have brought her here, said Purohit.
